Assessment & Evaluation

There are two unit tests and two terminal examinations including several units of study for classes PN to Class VIII and three term exams for classes IX and X. Absence from one or more subjects involves the loss of grades for these subjects and excludes the pupil from prizes and awards. Pupils absent from an examination should not be excepted to be examined.

  3. PROMOTION IS GRANTED BASED ON THE MARKS OBTAINED IN THE CUMULATIVE CONTINUOUS AND COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION AND NOT ON THE FINAL EVALUATION ALONE.
  4. However a minimum overall average of 33% and passing in the following subjects is a must to qualify:
    1. English (Average of Literature and Language);
    2. Maths;
    3. Science (Average of Physics, Chemistry and Biology where applicable)
    4. A minimum of 75% Attendance is compulsory for promotion.
    5. A student who has failed English will not be promoted to class IX or X

No student is allowed to skip internal assessment that is conducted from time to time with or without prior notice. Students who have missed any such evaluation will not be given a make-up evaluation. Failure to answer an evaluation brings down the average and will affect his/her chance of promotion to the next class. Under no circumstances, will promotion be given without attaining the qualifying percentage of marks.

The practice of bringing your child just for the period of the Evaluation and then seeking permission to take him/her home immediately on the condition that the child is not well will no longer be available. If the child is not well, please keep him/her at home.

With regard to promotion or failure, the Principal’s decision is final and conclusive. Answer scripts for the examinations will be given to the parents. The answer scripts of classes IX and X will have to be returned to the school.
